Orchestration
Integration Orchestration Fundamentals
Coordinate enterprise APIs, asynchronous events and dependent business processes.
2026 update. For long-running agent work across platforms see A2A for enterprise integration; for human approvals under the stateless MCP spec see Multi Round-Trip Requests.
Integration orchestration coordinates calls and events to complete a business process. Agents may assist with decisions or planning, but deterministic checkpoints remain useful for regulated or business-critical operations.
Design principles
- Define transaction and failure boundaries.
- Use correlation IDs across synchronous and asynchronous work.
- Model compensating actions for distributed transactions.
- Separate orchestration state from transport-specific adapters.
- Define deadlines and dead-letter handling.
